After high school, I attended ATES Technical Institute. I graduated from ATES in September of 1987. I began working for a Acme Music and Vending, directly across from the tech school as a Mechanic/Tech. We serviced anything that ran off of coin, ranging from pool tables to pinball and video games. I worked there until 1992, when the prospect of doing lighting and sound full time came along.

In 1992, I moved to the Johnstown area and began working with Denny’s Sound Reinforcement. We specialized in sales and service of professional level audio equipment. We spent our days installing sound systems in churches and clubs and our nights renting and operating sound systems for bands. We did groups ranging from local bar bands to national acts such as Night Ranger and The Guess Who. I still do audio on occasion, mostly with church drama or singing groups or for special local events.

The sound gig didn’t pan out though due to marital problems between the owner and his wife, so in 1993, I moved back to West Middlesex and took a job at CIMCO Electronics. Most people probably don’t even know CIMCO is there. It’s tucked in the corner down by the river next to O’Neil’s Coffee. There I built and tested High Temperature Controllers for high-voltage industrial transformers. It was a great learning experience, but the work was very repetitive and boring most of the time.

In 1995, I was once again back in the vending industry. I was hired as Manager of Pocket Change, the arcade in the Shenango Valley Mall. The pay, believe it or not was better, and the work was much more enjoyable. I always liked working on the games but with ACME, everything was in bars. I don’t drink or smoke and it got really old coming home with beer stained clothes and smelling like smoke. Pocket Change was different though. I was able to make the store profitable and bring all the equipment back up to working standards. The store finally closed in December 1996 when the mall wouldn’t renew its lease.

I went on from there to Aries Resources, Inc in February 1997. Aries was a local security and communications installer, specializing in access control and security cameras for corporate and industrial clients such as Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Calgon Corporation, Mountaineer Racetrack and Gaming Resort and many other large clients. During this time, I began playing around with computers. I started creating websites. I maintained the company site, as well as my own. I now maintain 3 sites full time; my own site, a site for a chat group I belong to and my friend Niki’s doll clothes site. They aren’t anything fancy but I enjoy spending time tinkering with them.

In late August of 1992, I ruptured 3 disks in my back. I spent most of September trying to get back to walking again. Just before Thanksgiving, Aries Resources filed for bankruptcy leaving me in limbo. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to go back to work because of my back. I definitely wasn’t able to walk into an interview and say “Hey, I want this job”, while being all hunched over and not able to walk. I spent the next year and 4 months looking for work and strengthening my back.

Since April of 2004, I have been working for US Investigations Services, a background investigation company. One of our largest customers is the US Government. My current position is PC Tech. I play a pivotal role in installation and maintenance of on-site equipment as well as maintaining laptops and printers. I get to travel to our offices around the country installing equipment and setting up networks.

Hobbies and Other stuff:

Web Design – My site is http://c.farster@captcurt31.com (includes many many photos as well as links to my other sites )

Auto Racing – I work at Mercer Raceway Park as Head of Security/Guest Services and Technical Support on weekends throughout the summer.

Hunting

Traveling – Both for business and pleasure

ATV Riding – although most of my riding is done for work purposes at the racetrack or around home.

That’s me in a nutshell. I hope you folks have a good time at Graduation and the Reunion.

Sincerely,

Curtis Farster

It was a dark and stormy night…Actually; it was neither dark nor stormy.  Just wanted to catch your attention.  As many of you probably already knew…Pat enlisted in the Marine Corps on his 17th. Birthday.  He turned 18 in boot camp…. and has had the fortune of visiting 23 countries…in many of which he was lucky enough to not be shot at.  He actually had a bout of “the grass is always greener…” back in 1996, and decided to leave the Corps, but after about 18 months, he realized that he missed it, and re-enlisted.  We lived in Sharpsville for that time, as many of you may remember seeing us about.  He is planning to retire in February 2008 with a grand total of 22 years under his belt, although I am trying to talk him into retiring next year.  Hey! We’re getting old and tired!!!   I went to Westminster College, and made it to my sophomore year before Pat popped the question… you know what the say…”Life is what happens when you’ve made other plans.” We were married May 20th. 1989 and immediately moved out to the San Francisco Bay Area.  October of that same year, Pat was in a helicopter crash in Yuma, AZ and two days later, while I was teaching at a private pre-school, I had my first experience with an earthquake.  The Loma Prieta earthquake was 7.1 on the  Richter Magnitude Scale and it lasted for 15 seconds.  It felt like 15 minutes.  As you all know, I am a Pennsylvania gal.  I didn’t know whether to run for the basement or “stop, drop and roll.” Thankfully, we both survived our ordeals with no more than some scattered nerves.

Our son Russell (photo to the right) was born May 16th. 1991 in Alameda, CA.  We shortly thereafter made our first move to Okinawa, Japan.  We have moved 9 times since then, to include moves to North Carolina, Pennsylvania, North Carolina again and Lawton, Oklahoma (James Carpec also lived here for a while.)   We loved Okinawa so much; we decided to make it our “twilight tour.”

Over the years I have held many jobs (to include an 18 month stint as Evening Supervisor at Kraynak’s) I have been a Library Technician now for the past 6 years.  I enjoy working with the children, and can’t think of a more perfect job.  You just can’t beat having summers off…especially when you live on an Island!!  Pat has worked as an Intelligence Analyst, an Artillery Operations Chief, an Instructor at the field artillery school in Lawton, Oklahoma, and is currently working as the Staff Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of the OSCAR (Operational Stress Control and Recovery) Team for Okinawa.

We are planning on retiring in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area, but haven’t decided for sure yet…who knows…. we may just decide to come back to Pennsylvania.

We hope you enjoy a wonderful 20th. Reunion.  We would love hearing from all of you.  We can be contacted at:

Mike Herwig

I spoke to Mike days prior to the reunion.  He is currently in Mississippi helping to clean-up the disaster left by Hurricane Katrina.  He said that the news does not do justice as to what it is actually like.  His company goes in, tears down the houses, they take them away to incinerate them.  The ashes then go on a ship and they dump them into the ocean.  As you walk the streets, the houses are painted with fluorescent orange paint with numbers of how many dead bodies were found in that house.  The bodies that were found outside are outlined in the same paint and lime is covering the spot.  He has to stay in a hotel 2 1/2 hours away due to the toxins in the area.

Mike said most of the time he is traveling with his job.  He has a girlfriend, never been married and has no kids.  He lives in Hubbard, Ohio.  He said to tell everyone HI and sorry he couldn't make it.

Camron, Dustin and Blake

Susan and Brian

After high school, I attended Youngstown State University where I graduated with a degree in Social Work.  I lived in the area until 1990, when I moved to Mississippi with my ex-husband.  After 1 year, I decided I hated it, he loved it so I packed my bags and moved home (with mom and dad).  Eventually, my divorce wounds healed, and I got a job in a nursing home and bought a house in Farrell.  In 1994, I had a son Blake.  Yes, I was a single mother but not for long.  In 1995, I met Brian Palumbo and we married 4 months later.    I quit my job and was a stay home mom.  We lived in Farrell until 1998 when Blake was ready for Kindergarten.  We then bought a house in West Middlesex, so Blake could attend my Alma Mater.  My husband is an electrician and we started our own electrical contracting business in 2000.  It was quite difficult going from a Social Worker to an office person doing bids, blueprints, accounts receivable and payable!!! But, I learned.  In 2002, I decided I missed helping others, so I got into foster care.  WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!!  I have had 18 foster children (some for days, some for years).  At one point, I had 3 brothers, my biological son and my husband.  (The testosterone was unbearable!!!)  Camron was a foster child we had during the summer of 2003.  When he was 17, the judge emancipated him and he moved back in with us.  Dustin came to us in August of 2003 at the age of 12.  In September, we adopted him.  I decided recently that I was done doing foster care.  Currently, I still take care of the office for my husband's business and run my 3 boys to football, track, wrestling, dances, Boy Scouts, friends, etc...  (That's a full time job itself.)

Hello all!

I attended the WMHS class of 1985 20-year reunion and had a great time. I'm currently living in Northern Virginia, right outside the Capital Beltway. We've been here for about 10 1/2 years. After high school, I spent four years at Grove City College and received a bachelor's degree in business and marketing. Four short weeks later, I was married to a wonderful guy I met at GCC and moved to Louisville, KY where Bob finished his Masters degree in Theology. Our first church was in Boca Raton, FL where we spent four years.

In 1995, we moved to Oak Hill, VA where we bought our first house - a definite 'handyman special'. We've spent the last 10 years renovating and really enjoy it.

I've been in the insurance industry for 15 years and currently working as an Investigative Case Manager in the workers' compensation unit.

Bob and I have one daughter, Taylor, who is almost 7. She's a real cutie and enjoys soccer, gymnastics, reading and her new hamster, "Cutie". Pet-ownership is a new endeavor for us. Bob is one of two associate pastors at Vienna Presbyterian Church www.viennapres.org. We really enjoy the church and have lots of 'extended family' here. We still get back to Western Pennsylvania on occasion, as my folks and sister still live there.

Lynne (Bobbie) Griffin
